In today’s video, Leslie delves into the true cost of skincare, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful product choices in building an effective anti-aging routine. With an array of options available across various price points, it’s crucial to recognize standardized ingredients that genuinely protect the skin, reverse damage, and improve elasticity.
Leslie cautions against the hype surrounding certain products, highlighting that while hydrators like hyaluronic acid provide quick results, potent ingredients like peptides, vitamin C, and retinol require time to show significant effects. She urges viewers to consider these products as long-term commitments rather than just one-time purchases.
Using vitamin C as an example, Leslie explains that while high-end serums like Skinceuticals—priced at $166 for one ounce—are known for their efficacy, there are more budget-friendly alternatives such as those from Maelove and Timeless that offer similar benefits for a fraction of the price. Over five years, the cost difference could amount to significant savings, illustrating that effective skincare doesn’t always have to break the bank.
Leslie clarifies that while splurging on certain products can be beneficial, it’s essential to weigh those costs against the longevity and effectiveness of the product. She points out the need for consistency in one’s routine, arguing that pouring a budget into a single product isn’t practical if it can’t be sustained.
Additionally, she highlights other skincare items, noting that while some products may initially seem expensive, they might encompass multiple benefits, making them worth the investment. For instance, the Peter Thomas Roth peptide serum, available for about $100, contains multiple peptides that deliver visible results.
Discussing various hyaluronic acid products, Leslie compares Glow Recipe’s Plum Plump Serum at $42 with more affordable options like Good Molecules at $6. She encourages viewers to consider whether a pricier product is a sustainable choice in their routine.
Leslie reflects on her personal skincare journey, acknowledging her eclectic approach to product selection and her willingness to test some high-end formulations. However, she stresses the importance of mindfulness in making purchasing decisions to avoid impulse buys that may lead to disappointment.
Ultimately, consistency remains the key to effective skincare. Leslie encourages her audience to reflect on their choices and make informed decisions. She hopes her insights will help viewers rethink their skincare strategies, prompting them to invest wisely in products that truly align with their needs and budgets. Hey everyone! I wanted to clarify by sticking with a product to see results I mean more specifically the active ingredient – ie : peptides, retinol, etc more than just the particular brand…. I might rotate vitamin C’s for example but the price point for that ingredient that I’m comfortable with right now is 20-30 dollars because I’m going to repurchase so much. Hope that makes sense! 💕💕💕
Love this video! I'm such a skincare fanatic (*worked for a derm for years). Vitamin C is awesome – I am a big fan of the Skinceuticals serum but I love that there are cheaper alternatives.
I found your channel through Instagram… and I’m so glad! You are incredibly knowledgeable and I look forward to learning about your findings with the new additions to your skincare routine 🤗💕
