Video at the bottom!
In this week’s video, Dominique Sachse shares her affordable and effective skincare routine for those over 40, emphasizing a straightforward approach that minimizes clutter while maximizing results. She reflects on her journey, starting in 2010 when she met a dermatologist who introduced her to a powerful skincare protocol. At 54, Dominique asserts that her skin has improved significantly since adopting this routine.
The focus of the video is on achieving youthful skin, which includes minimizing wrinkles, addressing hyperpigmentation, and enhancing skin firmness and hydration. She reminisces about the skincare practices from the ’80s, such as tanning with baby oil, acknowledging how harmful they were. Dominique stresses that her skincare program is a long-term commitment, beneficial at any age.
Her morning routine begins without washing her face, as she prefers to maintain the natural oils from overnight. She uses prescription-strength glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid known for its exfoliating properties and ability to promote collagen production. After applying a small amount of glycolic acid, she uses a lightweight moisturizer suitable for her skin type, ensuring it’s adequate to compensate for any dryness the acid might cause.
Sunscreen is another crucial step, and she advocates for natural, mineral-based options, which she often applies over her makeup using a brush-on formula for convenience. Her nighttime routine includes an oil-based cleanser to ensure thorough makeup removal, followed by tretinoin, a prescription retinoid that reduces fine lines and hyperpigmentation. Dominique explains the difference between retinoids and over-the-counter retinol, emphasizing that her dermatologist-prescribed tretinoin offers more noticeable anti-aging results.
She advises starting with a low frequency for the tretinoin to allow the skin to acclimate and discusses buffering techniques to mix it with a moisturizer if irritation occurs. Dominique appreciates the long-term effects, claiming her skin has improved significantly, with reduced sunspots and overall texture.
Additionally, she highlights the importance of sun protection, often wearing hats and avoiding excessive sun exposure. For existing sunspots, she mentions having undergone an IPL laser treatment that effectively eliminated them.
In conclusion, Dominique urges her viewers to explore organic and affordable skincare options, reinforcing that a combination of glycolic acid and tretinoin forms a powerful, cost-effective regimen. She invites feedback and suggestions for future content, encouraging an expanding community to embrace healthy, glowing skin while aging gracefully. The video wraps up with a reminder to tune in next Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Does your dermatologist do virtual appointments? If so can you connect me to her?
I have a really sensitive skin and irritation. Could you advice please if I can put some Eucerin moisturizer before applying Tretinoin?
Can you use vitamin C in the morning besides the glycolic cream? Would I use it before or after the glycolic?
I have been using Monsia products for a long time, they have been the only ones that have helped me with my dryness problems, leaving my skin soft and hydrated 😀
you are very fluent thanks good info
Thanks so much for this reminder!
This is, and will always be a great video !
Thank you for sharing!
I have really sensitive skin around my eyes, so a thin layer of Vaseline at night around my eyes and on my lips keeps the tretinoin away from that skin. Lactic acid is also an alternative to glycolic acid for dryer skin.
How did you find a good dermatologist and aesthetician? It's so important to find a good one.
So you don't use primer?
I've been watching you for yrs. Because of your videos, I started using tretonoin, glycolic acid, azelaic acid, etc in my 30s. Thank you for making such informative videos.
Lots of love,
-Klarissa

Thanks for making this simple! I've been so confused when it comes to skincare! I want something that works! Lol. And not have to buy 1,000 products. So hoping to try this. Also really dig the roller girl t-shirt!
Late to watching this again. Just going back on tretinoin- I’d like to try the buffering. What cream do you use to mix tretinoin with to buffer?
Also you mentioned aloe for flakiness but didn’t see it on your description. I’d really like to get that because I flake.
Going to talk to my dermatologist about glycolic- no brand name on that right since prescription?
I’m 73 but have used medical grade skin care for 35 years and tretinoin for several years- just peel a lot- very very dry skin. Do you think we ever get too old for tretinoin?
Thank you please what is the price
Folks, please don't use makeup wipes of any kind because it leaves undesirable chemicals on your face. My beloved facialist nearly died when I said that I was using a cleanser wipe in the morning to take off the skincare from the previous evening/night. She said to simply rinse with cool water and there's any eye makeup stains, you can dampen a q-tip to remove it.
