When discussing skincare with others, particularly at the age of 43, the most common question seems to be about the specific face creams one uses. While many people seek a simple answer, the truth is that maintaining youthful skin requires a more comprehensive approach. From ensuring adequate sleep to avoiding alcohol, looking good involves various lifestyle choices.
Many men, when entering a pharmacy, are greeted with a myriad of products geared toward women, leaving them puzzled about what might work for them. Therefore, it’s vital to break down not just a routine but the specific products and ingredients essential for effective skincare, particularly as one approaches middle age.
Before diving in, there are key points to consider:
- Realistic Expectations: No face cream can provide a miraculous facelift. If skin tightening or a lifted look is what you seek, other methods, like facial exercises, should be explored.
- Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable: Consistent use of sunscreen is crucial, as sun exposure is a primary factor in skin aging.
- Establish a Consistent Routine: It’s not enough to occasionally use a product; a daily morning and evening regimen is essential.
Now, let’s delve into essential ingredients that should be included in a skincare routine:
-
Peptides: Composed of amino acids, peptides signal skin cells to enhance collagen production, helping maintain firmness and youthfulness. It often takes a few months of consistent use to see visible results.
-
Hyaluronic Acid: Naturally found in skin, this ingredient can hold a thousand times its weight in water, making it excellent for hydration. The effects are immediate, resulting in plump, youthful skin right after application.
-
Retinol (Vitamin A): This potent ingredient accelerates skin cell turnover, bringing newer, younger cells to the surface more quickly. While results can take a few months, it also protects collagen from being broken down by natural enzymes. However, retinol can irritate the skin initially, causing redness or dryness.
- Antioxidants: These combat free radicals—unstable molecules that can damage collagen and contribute to aging. Sun exposure generates free radicals, underscoring the importance of sunscreen. Antioxidants neutralize these damaging molecules, preventing further skin damage.
In terms of what products to use, many men might feel overwhelmed by the options available. After 15-20 years of testing various items, a straightforward routine can be helpful.
A suggested regimen includes:
-
Cleansing: Use a gentle yet effective cleanser, like Dr. Organic rose face wash, which removes impurities without over-drying.
-
Face Scrub: For exfoliation, a product like the Number 7 Total Renewal Microdermabrasion Exfoliator effectively removes dead skin.
-
Face Mask: Incorporate a clay mask, such as Be Detoxed, into the routine once a week for deep cleansing.
- Moisturizer: Opt for a high-quality moisturizer, like The Ordinary’s Natural Factors Moisturizer, which contains beneficial ingredients that work with your skin rather than inhibit its natural processes.
For those exploring more direct anti-aging solutions, consider products from The Ordinary, which offers individual components like:
- Hyaluronic Acid for instant hydration.
- Buffet peptide serum for a more youthful appearance.
- Granactive Retinoid for effective, lower-irritation retinol treatment.
- Resveratrol with Ferulic Acid as a powerful antioxidant.
- Mandelic Acid for gentle chemical exfoliation.
Establishing a routine may initially seem complex, but over time, it becomes a manageable task. Mixing products—for instance, applying hyaluronic acid with your moisturizer—can simplify the process.
Additionally, don’t forget to extend your skincare to your neck and hands, areas often overlooked but prone to signs of aging.
The results of consistent use of these products can be remarkable; many men report a fresh, youthful glow and improved overall skin quality. By prioritizing a solid skincare regimen and protecting against sun damage, it’s possible to maintain a youthful appearance well into middle age and beyond.

You look amazing!! Maybe 34 or so! Keep up the great routine. 🙂
Hiya Jay. I'll turn 30 in a year and 4 months so I've decided I'll start a skincare routine to keep myself looking young for the next couple of decades. I'm learning this stuff for the first time and I'm looking for a precise weekly routine for the Ordinary products. Does this look ok?
Monday: AM – Peptide + Hyaluronic acid….. PM – Retinoid
Tuesday: AM – Peptide + moisturiser….. PM – Mandelic acid
Wednesday: AM – Peptide + Hyaluronic acid…… PM – Resveratrol + Ferulic acid
Thursday: AM – Peptide + moisturiser….. PM – Retinoid
Friday: AM – Peptide + Hyaluronic acid….. PM – Mandelic acid
Saturday: AM – Peptide + moisturiser….. PM – Retinoid
Sunday: AM – Peptide + Hyaluronic acid….. PM – Resveratrol + Ferulic acid
As well as using the facewash in the morning.
Do some of these products need to be used more times per week than above? Or less?
Hi, new sub here. As Im about to turn 43,I feel like I have aged several years over night having looked really young until I got to 40. My main issues are under eye lines and deeper smile lines now. You know you're getting old when the pillow marks dont go away anymore. But would appreciate recommendations on something that actually works for deeper lines please. I love clarinsmen, but too expensive. I tried using eye gels, even the my perfect eyes, which decieves by drying out whole area leaving a white residue. I use Astral too for really dry skin, i find nivea very gloopy. Got so self conscious I wear fake glasses to cover my eyes, which ironically make me look older, plus wont go to hairdressers cos I can see my lines more in their mirrors.
Great video mate with great info. 👏👏 I’m a 48 year old guy, I use active products and they absolutely do work but like you say, we have to be consistent and definitely wear and spf or there’s no point really. Keep doing what you’re doing. You look 20 years younger.
You could say you look early 20s

I also use Loreal Mens Expert Energising Face wash & Face Scrub in the Morning I then mix No7 Gradual Tan for Men (SPF 15) with my Loreal face face cream in the morning and everyone comments how good my skin is. It was my birthday this week and my work collegues thought I was going to be 37!. I work 5 days a week and have a 4 year old daughter and I always find time for my skin care routine. I don't smoke or drink.
You look awesome. Natural and smooth like a man should look, not dewy or over-moisturized looking. Really like the tips for my husband.Thanks.

Hi
I am a man who uses “ The Ordinary” skin products. They are good in conjunction with micro needling and skin tightening. It’s awesome to see a bloke on YouTube talking about anti-aging skincare. I have always felt embarrassed about talking about skin care as a man, you have made me feel like it’s quite normal. Thanks mate.
You look incredible. I appreciate your content and please ignore the haters. They probably look old and weigh 300lbs.
He looks damn good
Is Sunsense sunscreen with a tint good for a glow & hide imperfections?
Can you do a video on how to get a glass skin?
You look 42
Hi do you have a Facebook page also what treatments can you use after Botox I got told hi fu destroys it.
I’m sorry but that right there is a filter. It might be more than just one filter, but this video have gone through some editing (not sound wise though).
You look perfectly fine, and it’s not up to anyone else to say anything else anyway.
What’s so sad is that some people (and it’s always those who looks good anyway) are feeding into a toxic image that a body looks like this and skin looks like that and anything else but that is not okay.
I’m a grownup and feel perfectly fine with my skin – I am very interested in skincare though because it makes me feel very good, taking care of myself.
I’m here because I did a search for the “Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%”
and you seem to know what you’re talking about.
I’m leaving this comment, perfectly aware that it’s an activity on this channel because I want to help your channel out.
I see it’s a two year old video so I hope you’ve stopped using filters since then.
I follow some skinfluencers that are younger than you that have lines and I follow some that are older than you. We all have pores and lines in our faces when we emote 💁🏼♀️ Big deal!
Your knowledge and enthusiasm and personality might be needed on YouTube. So that’s why I give this video a thumbs up. Keep it going. 🦋
Hi. I got confused. It would be a great help if you could just do a video with the routines and items to be used which would make it more simplified.
You look like Bryan Adams
Omg people leave this man alone. He clearly takes care of himself and is putting out this info to help you. If you dont like it or him just leave. I think he looks wonderful and has a caring personality
How bad are smoking & pollution for the skin? Great video.
All these teenagers on here saying he looks 38 and older. When I was a teen, I thought 30 was old. I know many people his age and he does look 10 years younger than most of them.
Really useful video
On your side view (In particular) you do look as if your in your early thirties.. Without doubt your skin care regime has made a difference (IMHO).. Thank you for sharing your valuable in site..
For me you don't looks so young, you do look around 38 years
Not only you look 43 to 45 but you also have no hair. Lol. What a fake,
You look 43.
note for myself:

Im a Brazilian guy about to turn 30yo.
Thanks for this useful, informative channel.
I hope to get to a certain age not only looking good, but also maximizing longevity as well.
