Video at the bottom!
As we age, particularly in our 60s and 70s, our skin undergoes significant changes that can lead to dryness, irritation, and other visible signs of aging. These changes are often not just a result of environmental factors but are also influenced by hormonal shifts that occur as we get older. Understanding these changes is crucial for taking effective care of mature skin.
Common Symptoms of Aging Skin:
- Drier and Thinner Skin: Skin can become almost rice-paper-like and sweat production decreases, making it more prone to irritation and dryness.
- Increased Sensitivity: As skin becomes thinner, it may react poorly to products that were once tolerated, leading to irritations, blotchiness, or even bruising.
- Slow Healing: Wounds and skin infections tend to take longer to heal, resulting in an increased risk of skin issues.
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles: The appearance of more pronounced age spots and wrinkles is common due to reduced collagen and natural moisture.
Skincare Recommendations:
-
Moisturizing Focus: It’s vital to choose moisturizers that restore the skin’s lipid barrier. This shift is essential as older skin struggles to maintain moisture. Opt for gentle, cream-based cleansers that are effective but not overly stripping.
-
Gentle Cleansing: If you prefer a foaming cleanser, select a gentle one that doesn’t contain harsh sulfates. Consider a cream-based exfoliating cleanser that incorporates Lactic Acid for hydration.
-
Careful Exfoliation: Exfoliation becomes increasingly important, but caution is necessary to avoid irritation. Switch between gentle enzymatic exfoliants and stronger agents like Retinoids, depending on skin sensitivity.
- Avoid Fragrances: As skin becomes more sensitive with age, products with synthetic fragrances can exacerbate irritations. Transition to gentler, fragrance-free formulas, particularly those from reputable skincare lines.
Dietary Considerations:
-
Caloric Restriction: Studies suggest that reducing caloric intake can positively impact cellular aging and overall health. Focus on nutrient-dense foods rich in antioxidants to combat free radical damage.
-
Protein and Vitamins: Ensure your diet is high in proteins and antioxidants, including Vitamins B, K, and E, as well as Copper. These nutrients support skin repair and strength and help improve capillary and blood vessel integrity.
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water to maintain skin hydration from the inside out.
Conclusion:
As we move through our 60s, 70s, and beyond, understanding the changes that occur in our skin is critical for maintaining its health and appearance. Adapting our skincare routines and dietary choices to meet these needs can help manage the visible signs of aging effectively. When in doubt, consult with a skincare professional to develop a personalized regime that addresses your specific skin concerns.

My mother uses a basic moisturizer, she is in her 70s. Is it safe to introduce Sunday Riley's CEO 15% Vit C serum to her skincare?

Does anyone know how old christy is? I’m just curious because her skin looks good.
Hi Christi, I am one over the 70 and this year Dueto stress, my skin went crazy with lots of wrinkles and enlarged pores, What's happening???? I always had beautiful skin. Can that be reversed with products and if so which one should I use? Thank you
This is a great video! I'm actually trying to find the right products for my mother. She's 91 years young 😉 and she looks even younger. She's never used any type of skin care. She recently spent 5 months visiting my sister and her skin got much darker since they were out in the balcony frequently. Her skin tone is olive and now she got some aging spots she didn't have before and she doesn't like them. Could you please recommend a moisturizer with spf for her and a product to diminish those dark spots? I'd appreciate it. Her skin is oily but I'm not sure if I should by an oil control product at her age. Thank you very much. I immediately subscribed as soon as you touched the notification bell. Stay safe!
Great video as usual! Very informative and I find it very helpful since I'm in my late 50s going to my 60s! Thank you, Christy!
Are you going to restock the Image post rescue treatment cream? If not, what is a good alternative? Also what are you suggesting as a toner since the Botanical Bio PeptideToner is not longer available. Thank you.

Terrific video! I'm 71, so this is very important info for me (I appreciate that you say "60s, 70s or better" – nice choice of words!) 😊. Any suggestions for products that do not contain lactic acid, glycerin or other animal-derived ingredients?
Great video as always. I use Retin-A I use an AHA once every 2 weeks, no acne. I am 70 years old. Do I need to alternate between AHA and BHA? Also how do I prevent getting orange peel chin like some women have.
The best way to clean your skin is to cleanse with a non foaming cleanser – i do not suggest foam ay all unless u have surface oilmess
Oh, I'm doing better than I thought! Good weight, good food (need a little more protein and vitamin e), rarely eat junk *treats*. My skin is doing this intrinsic changing, sure, but not bad at 64! I am soooooo glad I found you!
