Dr. Lisa Pruett, a board-certified dermatologist at the Center for Aesthetic and Laser Medicine at Trinity Dermatology, shares valuable insights on anti-aging skincare and recommended products. Many patients inquire about which skincare options to choose given the overwhelming variety available in drugstores and malls. Dr. Pruett emphasizes the importance of scientifically proven recommendations that effectively address the aging process.
She highlights three essential products for anyone looking to establish a solid anti-aging skincare regimen. The first is Alto, a powerful antioxidant serum that contains vitamin C as well as a blend of other antioxidants. Dr. Pruett explains that while many may consider purchasing a vitamin C serum from the drugstore, it’s crucial to understand that not all vitamin C products are created equal. The formulation requires the right percentage and pH balance to work effectively, making a reliable antioxidant investment vital for achieving desired results.
The second product Dr. Pruett advocates is sunscreen. She urges everyone to apply sunscreen daily, recommending the tinted moisturizer sunscreen UV Elements by Elta MD. This product is particularly favored by many of her patients and serves as an essential barrier against damaging ultraviolet radiation, which may affect the skin even without prolonged outdoor exposure.
Lastly, she emphasizes the significance of incorporating a retinoid into one’s skincare routine. Dr. Pruett recommends Alpharet from Skin Better Science, which functions similarly to prescription hes like Tretinoin. This retinoid has been clinically studied and is effective at boosting collagen production and improving skin appearance and health, with the added benefit of helping to reverse sun damage and mitigate DNA mutations linked to skin cancer.
While these three products are foundational for an anti-aging routine, Dr. Pruett acknowledges that numerous other products can be tailored to individual concerns, such as hyperpigmentation. For those seeking personalized skincare regimens backed by scientific evidence, she invites individuals to visit the Center for Aesthetic and Laser Medicine for expert guidance and tailored solutions.
