Aging skin is a common concern for many, manifesting in wrinkles, dark spots, fine lines, and decreased elasticity. Before opting for interventions like Botox or fillers, a well-structured skincare routine equipped with the right ingredients can significantly enhance skin health. The Ordinary Skincare line, known for its straightforward naming convention based on the chemical name of primary ingredients, offers a range of solutions tailored for various skin concerns. Understanding which products suit your individual needs is essential for maximizing results.
In this video, we delve into the Top 6 Ordinary Skincare Products for Aging Skin, explaining their specific uses and the ingredient combinations to avoid. We provide skin education and skincare reviews presented by qualified skin experts, so be sure to subscribe for future updates.
1. Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane or Retinol 0.2% in Squalane
For beginners, Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane is a more forgiving option, while Retinol 0.2% in Squalane targets advanced users. Vitamin A, pivotal in skin health, combats hyperpigmentation and aging signs. When applied, it speeds up cell turnover, promoting the shedding of dead skin and facilitating smoother, healthier skin over time. It can initially cause dryness or flakiness, but this phase typically leads to improved texture and deeper absorption of active ingredients.
To use the retinoids effectively, start with the Granactive form, progressively working up to Retinol. Begin with applications every third night and monitor for sensitivity. Always apply in the evening after water-based serums but before moisturizers. Caution is advised—if pregnant or breastfeeding, Vitamin A should be avoided entirely, and sun protection becomes crucial due to heightened UV sensitivity.
2. Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
Vitamin C in the form of Ascorbic Acid 8% combined with Alpha Arbutin 2% acts as a potent antioxidant, protecting against cellular damage from free radicals. This product is excellent for tackling hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin. Use it in your morning regimen post-cleansing and before heavier formulations. Initially, it may be beneficial to use it a few times per week, gradually increasing frequency as your skin adjusts. It’s advisable to keep Vitamin A and Niacinamide for evening use to prevent irritation.
3. Resveratrol 3% and Ferulic Acid 3%
This powerful antioxidant formulation protects skin from environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays. Derived from Japanese Knotweed, Resveratrol works together with Ferulic Acid, contributing to a healthier, vibrant appearance. It can be layered with Vitamin C for an enhanced antioxidant boost, applied after cleansing but before oils or creams. However, avoid combining it with copper peptides for optimal effectiveness.
4. Buffet
A multi-technology peptide serum, Buffet combines peptides, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid to target multiple aging signs. It’s designed to stimulate collagen production and improve skin hydration. The water-based texture can be integrated into both morning and evening routines post-cleansing. Avoid using it with direct acids, Vitamin C, or Resveratrol to maintain peptide efficacy.
Final Tips
Introduce active ingredients slowly and adhere to product instructions for optimal results. Regularly applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) in your morning routine is essential to safeguard your skin from damaging UV rays.

Excellent video…..thanks❤
I didn't understand. Which is stronger? 2% in squaline or 0,2% in squaline? You say 2% is less power?
Great!😁✌️
Thank you for this video! I am 61 years old and I have always looked after my skin with drugstore brand products. I only recently discovered The Ordinary skin line and wanted to try them but they are so many that it is overwhelming for someone like me who has only ever used drug store brands. 😩😩

Acids in the morning plus Argireline as first choice. Niacinamide and Retinol plus Rosehip oil in the evening. Coffeine eye cream m/e
So helpful thank you. I already have moisturizers with vitamin c for daytime and retinol at night so unsure if first two are worth purchasing still but I did go ahead and get a whole range of products and found it all mind boggling so this definitely helped. Needed more than suggested as I have bad acne but also aging skin 😅
In the morning i wash my face and then I apply vitamin C with alpha arbutin, ferulic acid and resveratrol, then let it dry a few minutes, then apply the buffet peptide serum, wait a few minutes and then apply my Cerave AM SPF 30 Moisturizer, which niacinamide in it! how come i can't do this anymore, why is the niacin in my cerave moisturizer so dangerous? this works fine for me up until now… please tell me if i have to stop using my moisturizer that has niacinamide in it?
Is brown bottle or white bottle good
